MEET THE FOUNDER

Cassandra Berry

More than 12 years of family law knowledge and hands-on practice supporting Ontario lawyers and law firms.

Experience, care and dependable support.

Cassandra Berry is a Senior Family Law Clerk and the Founder of Rent-A-Clerk Est. 2024 Inc., bringing more than 12 years of legal knowledge and hands-on practice to lawyers and law firms throughout Ontario. Her work focuses primarily on family law, where she has built a strong reputation for thorough preparation, attention to detail, and dependable support.

Throughout her career, Cassandra has developed a comprehensive background in matters involving parenting, decision-making responsibility, child and spousal support, financial disclosure, property issues, child protection, motions, conferences, and trial preparation. She regularly assists with the preparation of applications, answers, motions, affidavits, conference briefs, financial statements, disclosure materials, costs outlines, and other family court documents.

Having worked in both traditional law firms and independently, Cassandra understands the demands of a busy family law practice. She has managed substantial caseloads and is skilled at organizing complex and document-heavy matters, identifying outstanding issues, coordinating disclosure, managing court deadlines, and preparing comprehensive materials for counsel’s review.

Her professional background includes private and Legal Aid matters, as well as files involving the Office of the Children’s Lawyer and Children’s Aid Societies. Cassandra has also assisted counsel with court proceedings and trial preparation at all levels of court, including matters before the Court of Appeal for Ontario, and the Supreme Court of Canada.

In addition to her legal career, Cassandra previously worked as a Transitional Housing and Court Support Worker at a facility supporting women affected by gender-based violence. In that role, she assisted women with transitional housing planning, locating safe and affordable housing, preparing court-related documentation, and navigating the court process. This work strengthened her compassionate, client-centred approach, particularly in matters involving family violence, child protection, and individuals navigating difficult periods of transition.

Cassandra holds a diploma in Legal Office Administration from St. Clair College and is bilingual in English and French.

As the Founder of Rent-A-Clerk Est. 2024 Inc., Cassandra established the company to provide lawyers and law firms with flexible access to knowledgeable, reliable family law clerking support. She recognizes that the demands of a family law practice do not always fit neatly within the capacity of an in-house team. Rent-A-Clerk Est. 2024 Inc. provides firms with skilled assistance when they need it, whether for ongoing file management, court materials, financial disclosure, litigation preparation, or periods of increased workload.

Cassandra’s approach is grounded in accuracy, organization, responsiveness, and a genuine understanding that effective clerking involves much more than preparing documents. It means understanding the file, anticipating counsel’s needs, maintaining momentum, and helping lawyers focus on what matters most: representing their clients.
